FIRST MYSTERY: Jesus Sheds His Blood at the Circumcision
“When the eight days required for circumcision had been completed, he was named Jesus.” Lk 2:21
Have great confidence in the blessed God. Let us pray with faith, and we shall see miracles (MDM, L. 661)
O Jesus, Son of God made man, may the first Blood you shed for our salvation reveal to us the value of life and the duty to face it with faith and courage, in the light of Your name and in the joy of grace.

SECOND MYSTERY: Jesus Sweats Blood in the Garden of Gethsemane
“As he was in deep agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.” Lk 22:44
Let us often turn to Holy Prayer. Let usentrustourselves to the hands of the blessed God and let us not fear (MDM, L. 653)
O Son of God, may your sweat of blood in Gethsemane stir within us a hatred of sin, the only true evil that steals your love and makes our lives sorrowful.

THIRD MYSTERY: Jesus Sheds Blood During the Scourging
“Then (Pilate) released Barabbas to them, and after having Jesus scourged, he handed him over to be crucified.” Mt 27:26
He often withdraws into solitude to inflame his heart with ardent love for Jesus Crucified. (MDM)
O Divine Master, may the Blood of the scourging spur us on to love purity, so that we may live in the intimacy of Your friendship and contemplate the wonders of creation with clear eyes.

FOURTH MYSTERY: Jesus Sheds Blood During the Crowning with Thorns
“They stripped him, put a scarlet robe on him, wove a crown of thorns, placed it on his head, and put a reed in his right hand. Then, kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’” Mt 27:28–29
We have faith in prayer. Let us pray fervently with humility, and let us not be afraid. (MDM, L. 670)
O King of the universe, may the Blood shed during the crowning with thorns destroy our selfishness and pride, so that we may humbly serve our brothers and sisters in need and grow in love.

FIFTH MYSTERY: Jesus Sheds His Blood While Carrying the Cross on the Way to Calvary
“Then (Pilate) handed him over to them to be crucified. They took Jesus, and he, carrying the cross, set out for the place called Skull, in Hebrew Golgotha.” Jn 19:16–17
Pray with faith and reflect on the Passion and death of Jesus (MDM)
O Savior of the world, may the Blood shed on the way to Calvary illuminate our path and help us to carry the cross with You, so that Your Passion may be fulfilled in us.

SIXTH MYSTERY: Jesus Pours Out His Blood on the Cross
“When they came to the place called Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right and the other on his left. Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’” Lk 23:33–34
We must find time to remain at the feet of Jesus Crucified, where our souls are set ablaze with holy love for Him. (MDM)
O Lamb of God, sacrificed for us, teach us to forgive offenses and to love our enemies. And you, Mother of the Lord and our own, reveal to us the power and riches of the Precious Blood.

Let us pray earnestly that the Lord may revive the faith in all and that all may be saved. (MDM L.956)
O Adorable Heart, pierced for us, accept our prayers, the hopes of the poor, the tears of the suffering, and the hopes of all peoples, so that all humanity may be united in Your kingdom of love, justice, and peace.
