The Adorers of the Blood of the Zagreb Region elected their Regional Superior and councilors for a five-year term (2020-2025) during their Election Assembly July 3-5, 2020.
Let us invoke God’s blessings on the new Regional Superior and Councilors and wish them every good for the service of responsibility the community entrusted to them.
The second session of the IV Regional Election Assembly of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ of the Zagreb Region began in the chapel of the convent with a solemn Eucharistic celebration with Father Tomislav Glavnik, Conventional OFM, and Assembly Moderator, presiding.
In addition to Sr. Nadia Coppa, General Superior, and Sr. Matija Pavić, general councilor, 34 Sisters attended.  Sister Ana Marija Antolović, regional superior and president of the Assembly, expressed a warm welcome and opened the Assembly session.  Sr. Nadia communicated the greetings, prayers and best wishes of the Sisters of the General Council and of all the Sisters of the Congregation and hoped that the Assembly would be guided by the Holy Spirit.  The session was capably led by the Sisters of the Regional Election Assembly Preparation Commission: Sisters Marijana Pintarić, Bernarda Krišyoć. Mirijam Kuštreba and Laura Cukar.
Sr. Nadia Coppa and Father Tomislav, the moderator, helped the participants with inspired words for their work of responsibility.  They encouraged hope and a positive approach for the life and vitality of the Region, in spite of the fragility that is part of our reality as ASCs.  Such an approach created a pleasant spiritual atmosphere and friendship among the Sisters.
The General Superior confirmed the election of the Regional Superior and Councilors before all the participants at the Assembly and the moderator, giving the seal of the Region to the newly elected Regional Superior with appropriate words of congratulations.
The newly elected Council of the Zagreb Region for the 2020-2025 term will serve the Sisters of the Region.  It is made up of:
Sr. ZDRAVKA LEUTAR, Regional Superior
Sr. ANA LIPOVAC, Regional Councilor
Sr. MARIJA PRANJIĆ, Regional Councilor
Sr. VESNA ABRAMOVIĆ, Regional Councilor
After the election, the Sisters expressed their dream for the Zagreb Region: they creatively formed a chain connecting all the Sisters, symbolizing their belonging to the ASC community.  The young Sisters did a dance which included the newly elected regional administration Sisters in it.
The installation ceremony of regional administrative service of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ was held on July 11, 2020 in the Zagreb regional house at Tuškanac 56.
While respecting the necessary safety measures, about fifty Sisters of the Region attended the solemn installation ceremony in which the newly elected Regional Superior and the newly elected regional councilors assumed the task of serving the region for a five-year term.  Sr. Damjana Kovačević will be secretary and Sr. M. Anita Ferketin will be treasurer.
The Sisters expressed their gratitude to the previous Regional Superior, Sr. Ana Marija Antolović, and the regional councilors, Sisters Cecilija Milković, Tomislava Ćavar and Danijela Anić.
After words of blessing and congratulations, the Regional Superior, Sr. Zdravka Leutar, addressed those present, thanking the Sister for their trust, stressing that she wants to show this trust through deeds and serve the Region in humility of heart with the other Sisters of the Council.  She invited the Sisters to cooperate, dialogue and communicate about the process of spiritual transformation of each Sister, community and the Region.
The celebration continued around a table prepared in the courtyard where everyone joyfully participated in a shared agape.

July 1 Prayer

"Through this sufferings,
there has increased in me the desire to love Jesus,
the strength to do the little good, that I am doing and the desire to help,
the souls of my neighbor, I trust in the Divine Will."
(Maria De Mattias, Letter to Don Giovanni Merlini, September 1840)

Dear Sisters, friends, many wishes for holiness!
On this day when we celebrate the memory of the canonization of Saint Maria De Mattias, let us be inspired by her transfigured existence. She encourages us to make the Gospel our life by becoming a reflection of the Beloved as we serve him in the unconditional acceptance of our humanity.
In this moment of global uncertainty and vulnerability, a return to the essential is urgently needed: a return to the heart of our vocation as women called to be Gospel through a simple life, increasingly shared and rooted in the fire of Love.
Let us live the call to holiness as an invitation to accept restlessness of heart, which makes us continuously desire a "the more" of fullness and eternity never reached, and to cultivate gratitude, recognizing in our daily existence the signs through which the Lord accompanies us and leads us.
Let us open ourselves to the gift of holiness without calculation, with gratitude and detachment because the heart has recognized elsewhere its own wealth, in a treasure that is love and that is relationship with the person of the Lord.
May God continuously renew us in His Blood, and may we more and more aware that communion with Him is His gift which frees us and opens us to entrust ourselves to His mercy, while we recognize the primacy of the Father to whom we willingly abandon ourselves, even when everything is darkness.
Let us unite our lives to the Lord Jesus and his mystery by rediscovering that at the root of our following there is an experience, an encounter that has transformed our hearts. This contemplative dimension makes daily life appear to us in all its dignity and meaning, bringing us back to relive what was in Jesus' life, in full acceptance of his Easter in us.
May Saint Maria De Mattias, give us the gift of responding to this fascinating vocation  in the knowledge that this is the mission of our life: that is why we are in this world.(cf. EG 273).
Best wishes, with love,
Sr. Nadia Coppa, ASC

Frontliners of Faith

It was towards the end of 2019 when the outbreak of N-corona virus started to kill many in Wuhan, China. The news brought worry to the whole world, but the impact of its implication was not yet felt. February of 2020, Italy’s cases surge to thousands, news of death especially of priests was all over. The world became alarmed.
In the beginning of March, cases were confirmed in the Philippines. The Philippine government immediately acted on measures to prevent the spread of the disease. Fear is felt everywhere. Community quarantines were ordered, from a simple quarantine, to enhanced, to extreme. Only one person from each family is allowed to go out and provide for basic needs, all establishments are closed except for those related to basic necessities. Social distancing is strictly observed.
Despite the preventive measures, numbers of afflicted are increasing day after day. Doctors die in service, a lot more are infected. It is the time when discernment is not anymore needed. St. Maria De
Mattias Mission Clinic is a place where sick people can go for refuge especially when hospitals are more focused on the Covid 19 cases. Fear and care for families kept the collaborators at home for
their safety.
As long as there are doctors committed to save lives, the Mission clinic will continue its operation with the 3 Adorers as its frontliners. It was not an extraordinary move, it was not even a fruit of a long discernment. We just find ourselves united in a natural response of being Adorers who heard the cry of the blood.
It is a risk for we never will know if one of our patients is infected with the virus, but risk is a path which St. Maria De Mattias took a lot of times to collaborate with Christ in His work of redemption.
Risk is our path too, but in taking this risk, we are also in the stance of protecting ourselves with necessary precautions to be as safe as possible. We cannot stop living out our charism and spirituality especially in times when it is most needed. We only die once; what matters is how we lived. We are blessed that daily Eucharistic celebration is held in our chapel as Masses in parishes are suspended. We are blessed that the tasks for the coming Holy Week celebration is given to us Religious in our parish for the online viewing of the people. “Frontliners,” this is our identity, not only in witnessing our faith but acting on it. We are the frontliners of Christ, vaccinated with His precious Blood according to Pope Francis.
We continue to be united in prayers for the healing of the world. We, Adorers, continue to be frontliners of the Church in our own little ways; in our own given realities and circumstances.
Keep safe everyone.
