Saint Maria De Mattias. Other Writings,
Volume 6, Rome 2009
This volume, which follows the Collection of Letters of Maria De Mattias (Letters, Volume 5), gathers other writings of the Saint, some of which are unpublished, others published in excerpts. The purpose is to offer a transcription of manuscripts in their totality, regardless of their importance, in a sort of multi-genre anthology. The mixture that results is interesting and precious: we deal with independent sources that confirm and complete each other, in spite of some small differences in details; scattered shreds of stories that, placed side by side and connected at the right point, grant a more complete view of events and therefore a greater understanding of the Maria De Mattias Happening in its totality.

Antonietta Maraone
Pierina Ralston
Pierina Ralston is one of those figures that adapt badly to the traditional canons of holiness understood as meekness of character and submissiveness. A strong and volitive personality, this woman unites a good amount of savoir-faire, a soul sensitive toward the suffering, and a deep spirit of faith; a mixture that, in the contexts in which she lived, often revealed itself successful in pursuing the objective of bringing God to the people and the people to God. By faith, she undertook the journey of consecration following Maria De Mattias, foundress of the Congregation of the Most Precious Blood; by faith she became a beggar woman when she lacked money to feed the sisters and the poor; by faith she clung to the difficult venture of planting a foundation in England; by faith she carried forward the English foundation in the midst of many trials; by faith she exercised all her talents in the environment in which she found herself working...

Julitta Elsen. She Walked in Faith

In the now consolidated series of ASC Profiles, a new biography takes its place: that of Mother Julitta Elsen.  Her life, marvelously narrated by the author, seems to unfold along the lines of adventure stories where courageous persons face situations way beyond normal limits and win the stakes that anyone would have considered unreachable.
Those who read the human and spiritual adventure of Mother Julitta are struck by the faith of this woman. Hers is a faith that is perfectly wed to an almost instinctive generosity that pays little attention to difficulties and risks. The love of one who believes pushes God to do miracles! In Sister Julitta story, this sentence, almost worn out from use, resumes all its existential vigor while she entrusts herself to Divine Providence and exhorts the sisters to pray to Divine Providence at crucial times, when dreams become projects to be carried out.

Saint Maria De Mattias
Letters. Volume I -VI, 1833-1866
Edited by Angela Di Spirito and Luciana ColuzziThe correspondence recovered over time, which consists of 1,434 letters, is all related to the institution of the Work (the Congregation). It begins, in fact, on the vigil of the foundation, with two letters that function as its introduction, and runs for the entire span of 32 years: the time of the beginnings until the death of the pioneer. It weaves the fabric of the history of the origins of the Adorers and, in filigree, offers a window on Church and civil life in the mid-800’s. In addition it sketches, truly and profoundly, the life experience of the Author, a holy woman who, stubbornly, wanted to follow one sole objective: to collaborate with Christ in the redemption of humanity. An authoritative document which adds a pearl of spirituality and history to the rich tradition of the Church5 volumes, Adorers of the Blood of Christ, 2005.

Only for Love
The interior life that circulates in the veins of a woman when she gives herself to God unreservedly is always an adventure lived under the insignia of pure love. Maria De Mattias is one of those figures of saints that invite us to make our existence a gift of love, possible only if we enter into the life circuit of the Blood of ChristOnly for Love, dedicated to Maria De Mattias, is intended to be a pilgrimage in the interior life of this Saint, who lived the mystical experience of the Blood of Christ profoundly. She did not spare even a breath of her life in order to open the hearts and events of history to the silent flow of God’s love, which from the opened side of God’s Son Jesus circulates in all arteries, veins and capillaries of humanity and regenerates it. Beata Netemeyer. Woman of Courage and Vision
For those who wish to know the life of  midwestern pioneers in the United States of America, this N. 15 of the “Profile” series offers a scrupulously documented and carefully presented window, in a linguistically refined style that makes for very pleasant reading.
The “pioneer” this time is a woman who seems destined to that vocation right from infancy. Louisa, the eleventh and last child of the Netemeyer family, has to train herself to detachment from her dear loved ones very early, and to look forward continually, abandoning milestones that have been reached, because the goal is “beyond”.
She, pioneer among pioneers, experiences a substantial difference however, the same one that distinguishes Abraham from the nomads of his time. He does not leave to enjoy the thrill of adventure or to conquer enticing wealth, but to obey, in faith, the voice of One who promises other wealth, that of a long descendence.

Beauty in Short Lives - ASC Triptych
A single book for three lives. Three autonomous stories that intertwine conceptually. A triptych, that is, that recalls three young Adorers who lived in different times. Their lives are completed in twenty years. Therefore, these are not pioneers; their lives are not enriched by great works, nor are they martyrs, all characteristics of other women featured in this series. They are young women in love with an ideal to which they are dedicating themselves, and whose lives are marked by a consistence with their ideal.
Lives whose earthly happenings are cut short while in full bloom, and beautiful by all standards.

Acting in the Most Noble Tradition
The Life and Ministry of the Adorers' Five Martyrs of Charity
The fourteenth volume of ASC PROFILES leads us page after page to meet five women: Adorers of the Blood of Christ, missionaries in Liberia when it was being torn apart by civil war. They are women who, as an ASC community, chose to remain with the people in an embrace of solidarity characteristic of those who feel every person and every expression of humanity are precious. It is the history and the narration of ideals and life in confrontation, as experienced by the five ASC Martyrs of Charity: M. Joel Kolmer, Agnes Mueller, Barbara Ann Muttra, Shirley Kolmer and Kathleen McGuire.

Joy of Living
A Community in Liberia
Appreciating life. Building communion in the risk of everyday situations and times, to the extent of dying. This is the story of five sisters of the United States, Adorers of the Blood of Christ who were killed in Liberia in 1992 ... an entire community. With their life they wrote a page in the 20th century martyrology.
The narration, which runs parallel with pictures in this booklet, recalls the protagonists through reading their thoughts and gathering others' testimony of their lives.

The Work is God's
Giovanni Merlini and the Adorers of the Blood of Christ with unpublished letters
With the guidance of Giovanni Merlini, Maria De Mattias founds, builds and consolidates the Congregation of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. The author reads the foundation journey in its early difficult years as an intense and deep relationship between two persons bent on seeking and doing "the great will of God:' and therefore, a relationship that resembles a fertile seed in the social, ecclesial plan.
In fact, in the Merlini-De Mattias relationship, one cannot separate the Foundress from her Congregation, in the sense that the Missionary from Spoleto is, is heard, and is interpreted by his interlocutor as the spiritual guide and superior, both of the Foundress and of her Congregation, inseparably.
The many letters of the Director to the Adorers published for the first time in the appendix support that concept. This study, therefore, offers us a profile of Giovanni Merlini as an excellent guide of persons and of works, where the work is understood as "The Work of God”. But it offers us, at the same time, the picture of a successful spiritual association. If on the one hand, the author is very careful to emphasize the broad visions, the patient personality, the discretion and flexibility of Merlini, the "traveling companion", on the other hand, she evidences also the active and Original role of Maria, her autonomous and creative contributions requested and accepted by the same guide. A re-reading of primary sources in this feminine view is one of the treasures of this work, a contemporary contribution expressed by the author. At Every Season
... A face in the mirror, the seasons of the life, love and courage of a woman of the 1800's. A true story that has made a long journey. This narrative interprets the story in an Original and inspired view. Simplicity and poetry interlace and, in spurts, sketch its characters and situations. A watercolor in delicate and warm tones; mystery touches the everyday, quietly and unpretentiously!
A story that interweaves love and pain. Like in a lace ... " (Bruno Cantamessa)

Hermina Gantert, Pioneer in Bosnia
This story of Hermina Gantert's life recounts the essentials of her journey and draws a profile of a woman, who, wisely and prudently following the historical circumstances of the time, becomes a pioneer for the Adorers in the country of Bosnia. "Her daughters," it is said of her, "respected and honored her.” She was exceptionally patient and meek as she dealt respectfully with the challenges of the Islamic culture prevalent in the Balkans, keeping the Christian faith and a special consecration to the Blood of Christ alive. This fruitful seed grew into a strong tree of followers, who, because of political events over time, will have as a distinctive characteristic, a continuous call to the Paschal Mystery, according to the charism of Maria De Mattias.

Antonietta Maraone,
Catherine Pavoni - Charismatic Leader
The fourth volume in this collection presents a special lady who led the Congregation during a demanding time: Catherine Pavoni. She was a strong, determined lady, and gentle at the same time. In her the Divine Presence becomes an amazing facility for discernment, for herself and for the Community of Adorers, in that work which the author calls "re-foundation."
The book offers us a very life-like portrait, built upon sources that were elaborated faithfully.

Pauline Schneeberger - an International Woman
To read the account of this fifth booklet of the PROFILES series is to take a long voyage, in the steps of a lady who measures her identity as Adorer of the Blood of Christ by welcoming multi-culturality in her life. Pauline Schneeberger, a person of extraordinary faith and immeasurable trust in God, was a dynamic apostle. Because of her natural gift of leadership, she was asked to serve as superior in three very different areas of the Congregation: in what eventually became the province of Zagreb, in the province of Columbia and in that of Schaan. In the history of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, she is a uniquely international woman.

Lidwina Sikora - 1879 - 1978
Lidwina Sikora, born in Poland, chose to enter the Adorers of the Most Precious Blood; and with the guidance of a Trappist priest entered the postulancy in Bosnia in 1907. For almost forty years she fulfilled a great variety of services in the community, with exemplary humility and a passionate, loving zeal for Christ. Her expressed and secret dream was to return to Poland to spread the spirituality of the Precious Blood of Christ there. In 1946 this long-awaited desire was founded fulfilled. Lidwina returned to Poland with eight Polish companions. She founded and led the first ASC community in that country. Her holiness continues to be recognized by others also in death.

Serafina Cinque. Angel of Trans-Amazonia
A fascinating story, woven of unlimited charity. A life that unfurls quietly, leaving seedited byties behind and becoming humble service for all. In a Brazilian environment rich in pathos, in the 1940's and '50's, the life of Serafina Cinque, daughter of italian immigrants, becomes the symbol and significance of God's provident tenderness for the voiceless poor. It is this same population who today has asked that the process of her canonization be started.

Michele Colagiovanni
The Wind of the Burning Bush
A representation of blood can hardly appear more complete and contradictory, or more revelatory of the characteristic of life, than in this book, the first in a new series published by CIS. "Does the image of blood point to assassinations, wars, lust, transmission of illnesses, highway accidents, exploitation of human and natural resources? That is a sign that Satan's plan predominates. Does its representation make one I think of: communion, solidarity, service, donation, respect, ecology, Christ? God's intentions predominate.” Delving into every contradiction, every possible version and conversion of multiple questions, the author offers us a thought-provoking work, a piece of reflection which moves across the fields of Scripture, philosophy, theology, science, history and edited byent events. Life signed in blood, whether it be blessed or edited byed, respected or vilified and crushed, poured out in a thousand ways or contemplated and protected to understand the transcendent in it, is undoubtedly the reason for this work. Stimulating for personal reflection and suitable for reflection in common. A versatile and very impressive work.
